Have a Chipped Tooth? 3 Foods To Avoid This Thanksgiving

General Dentistry Jenkintown, PAIf you have chipped your tooth and it’s right before Thanksgiving, you may be wondering what on earth you will do until you get to come in and see your dentist. First things first, don’t worry: we’ve got you covered. To prevent the chip from getting worse, we have created a list of three foods that you should avoid this Thanksgiving.

Pecan Pie

That crunchy, delicious, sugar-filled pecan pie may have our name on it, but you should try to avoid it at all costs. Crunchy food is a big no-no until you can get into our McDowell Dental Group office and have your tooth fixed. After all, the last thing you want is to lose the rest of your tooth in a piece of pecan pie.

Turkey Skin

If you are the type of person who loves turkey skin, then this may put a downer on your turkey day. But, because turkey skin is hard-to-chew it isn’t going to do your chipped tooth any favors. Make sure that you remove all the skin and bones from your turkey before you go in for a bite.

Hard Bread Rolls

Before you reach for a bread roll this thanksgiving, think twice. Depending on just how hard the bread is on the outside will determine whether or not you should eat it. The softer a bread roll is, the easier it will be to chew and the easier it will be on your mouth overall.

The good news about having a chipped tooth on Thanksgiving is that a lot of traditional Thanksgiving foods are soft like turkey, sweet potato casserole, stuffing, and gravy which means that you won’t have to miss out on your favorite meal of the year.
