Understanding the True Cost of Dental Implants—They’re More Affordable Than You Might Think!

Dental Implants Abington & Jenkintown, PADrs. Gary and Ashley McDowell work with patients in the area of Abington, PA to help them in achieving their oral health goals. When problems occur, such as lost or extracted teeth, patients may be overwhelmed at the choices available for tooth replacement. Solutions they may consider include partial dentures, full dentures, dental bridges, and dental implants. While dental implants are often the most costly solution, they are in fact more affordable than many patients realize.

What are dental implants?

Dental implants are the gold standard in tooth replacement. These restorations are titanium posts that a dentist will place into the bone of the jaw. This acts as a natural tooth root replacement. Then, the top of the implant, called the abutment, is restored with a crown, bridge, or denture. The restoration chosen will vary depending on the patient’s unique situation. Dental implants are biocompatible, sturdy, long-lasting, and natural-looking. They can effectively restore function and beauty to the smile.

Why choose dental implants?

Dental implants require some time to place, but the primary benefit is the longevity. With proper care, patients can maintain their dental implants for a lifetime. This includes routine dental visits for cleanings and evaluations, and taking care of the smile at home to reduce the risk of periodontal disease and tooth decay. However, dental implants are considerably more expensive than bridges and dentures. But when patients factor in that they may have their restoration for decades—instead of just a few years—they will find that the investment is a wise choice! Over time, dental implants are actually cheaper than dentures or bridges, because they do not need to be replaced repeatedly over time. This makes them an affordable option for patients who may otherwise believe they are not! Additionally, we urge patients to bring their dental insurance plan information to the practice with them, where our front office team can determine if any benefits will reduce the cost of treatment.
